We accept all private health insurance and can process claims on the spot with the HICAPS machine (with the exception of certain item numbers which are restricted by health insurance companies from on the spot claims). If your claim does not go through on the day for any reason, we will issue you an invoice which you can send to your private healthfund to claim the rebate you are entitled to.
Private healthfunds are companies that are completely separate from us. Therefore, we have no control over how much rebate you’ll get back from any claim from any item number. If the dentist detects any problem/s that will need treatment, you will be given an itemised treatment plan with item numbers and prices of each service. You can quote these item numbers to your healthfund to know your exact rebate for the treatment required.
We encourage you to be fully aware of your annual individual limits (for both general and major dental cover), and to constantly check your policy for any changes that may have been implemented by your healthfund.
How do I claim?
After the consultation, your health insurance card or Medicare card (Child Dental Benefits Schedule) is simply swiped into the HICAPS terminal by the health service provider. Your claim details are entered and in seconds the whole transaction is processed.

Do I need to pay for the full fee before I can claim my health fund rebate?
There’s no need to pay the full consultation fee up-front then wait for the reimbursement of your benefit. Once your claim is authorised by the health fund, you simply pay the gap amount – the difference between the full fee for the treatment and the amount claimed from your health fund.
How much are you REALLY getting back?
Dental rebates vary not only across funds, but also between policies within funds and for the service being claimed. Funds also don’t publish the rebates they offer for all items of dental treatment in all circumstances. At Top Class Dental, we provide our patient with an itemised treatment plan with item numbers and prices of each service. You can quote these item numbers to your healthfund to know your exact rebate for the treatment required.
Are my treatment details confidential when claiming my health fund rebate?
Yes, your treatment details are sent directly to your health fund through the HICAPS system and can only be viewed by your provider and your health fund, utilising secure encryption protocol which fully protects your privacy.
